Coffee, fresh ground beans, brewed with an Aeropress, black with a bit of added sweetener. Really sorry to hear about the shop. I hope this is the beginning of a new chapter and brings even more time and opportunity to do even greater things for the community and the hobby.
That would be unfortunate, but you and your family do need to come first so it's understandable
Aerial bacteria are in very low density generally. Unless you are near a sewage plant that is regular aerosolizing bacteria it should not be an issue. I guess if you had an aquarium without a lid in in the bathroom, it is possible. If this is a large concern a tight fitting lid and turning off any air pump will quickly show if it is from airborne bacteria. However, it is very possible to introduce bacteria in higher numbers if they are using well water or their own water source. City waters are routinely monitored and should be shut off or switch to boil advisory if the bacteria levels rise, but that won't be true of home systems. The most likely cause is just too much undigested organic material in the tank, which is usually the result of overfeeding. I would have them siphon all the mulm they can out of the tank, change 50% of the water at least, reduce feeding, and be patient. Bacterial blooms usually consume all the organic matter quickly and then they die back, its the dieing though that is dangerous to the fish as they reduce oxygen in the water. A couple of good water changes should get this under control quickly.
Darm, sorry to hear about the business. That really sucks. I hope moving to online improves the bottom line enough for it to be viable for you as you move forward.
Tea 100% of the time when I'm home. I mostly drink Gyokuro Kubese during the day (made with 60C water so as not to burn the tea- yep, I love my tea so much I got a temperature adjustable jug so I could make it just right lol) & switch to a fruity herbal (summer & autumn) or chia tea (winter & spring) after about 1pm. The only coffee I drink is barista made when I'm out & about if I need a pick me up - usually get a cappa with cinnamon, no sugar or hot chocolate- coconut milk, no sugar. I'm not keen on the stuff they call tea that gets sold in stores. I've become an unabashed tea snob. Bit of a rant- I wholeheartedly wish we could buy good store-bought cups of properly made Gyokuro Kubese or any Sencha really, but usually the green tea they serve tastes more like the local crazy cat lady's grass clippings from last summer as it's boiled to death & lower quality to begin with... "can't get a decent cup of store-bought green tea in NZ" rant done lol.
Tea with milk and suga. Hard times for businesses at the mo. have seen lots of overseas fish keepers with large fishrooms heat the room instead of each tank, saves a lot on power. I know its hard when you don't own the building and there is little to no insulation.
I know you said you can’t have shrimp. Can you have mystery snails? They get hungry they could make quick work of that BBA
i don't drink tea or coffee
Coffeeeeeeeeee.... milk n 2,.. lol.. but a shop bought no sugar..
bro, you should do voice acting
First drink in the morning is coffee. Then normally another coffee and then a tea. No matter which drink it is, a good cuppa is worth its weight in gold..
Aww that's some sad news about the business side of things 😞
Best one yet 😂
Thanks I think. I am not sure why OB's have all of a sudden become my target, but here we are anyway
@@TheFishRoom its the hybrid hate that i support 🤣
@@ICEDTOM101 Hahaha, maybe I should widen my target to ALL hybrids
Maybe I'm dumb, but my jar of gel mix said the mix instructions are inside the jar. I'm not pouring it out to read them.
I am 99% sure, that is a stupid place for mixing instructions.
helo
Why hello there, thanks for being a part of TFR Family.
First But whats the context?
I woke up one morning and decided I wanted to learn how to make video memes, african cichlids seemed like the logical one to pick on.
Hi Cam love the videos have you considered doing a history of the fish room video ?
I have considered it.But didn't really get any further than that.
Can I put macaw with hecklii ?
It might be tank size dependant My experience with Macaw is they are pretty placid, but lot of people have said otherwise. Heckelii are also pretty docile, so it might be ok. Personally, I have always thought Heckelii go best when they are the only cichlids in the aquarium, so I would not likely do it myself.
In my recent tennis matches, I have picked tails four straight times to determine who serves first and it has been heads four straight times. I am going to keep picking tails until it works.
Hang tight, as soon as you swap, the coin will swap
I like heads
Fair, 50/50 chance
Heads
50/50 chance of winning I guess. But it doesn't have a cool rhyme to back it u.
Great Livestream with George earlier in the week 👍
Thanks, really appreciate the kind words. I will be sure to put the Australian timing on moving forward.
Coin toss: Whatever I say in the moment. Plant: I think Java moss is pretty cool. I'm quite new to plants though.
I really struggle with mosses, as a general rule. What is your recipe for success with them
@@TheFishRoom Most of my experience has actually been with terrestrial mosses, I'm actually fairly new to Java moss. So far my best growth has been when I've held back on water changes and allowed the nitrates to build up a little bit. (While also being safe for the fish of course!)
1:50 😂😂😂😂 i reckon if we keep talking and harping on at him about pleco and corys we will have him breeding them in a year or so 😂😂😂 8:56 Cryptocoryne's form me also.
Well we can only try...... and try we shall! Crytos are such a crazy and diverse range of plants.
Heads most times occasionally tails. Currently, I prefer swords, crypts, and ludwigia. Thanks for sharing 😊
What ludwigia variants are you into?
@TheFishRoom the one that lives in my tanks 😆 🤣
HECK YEAH!!!😂😂 And coin toss I'd take tails lol I also really love Anubis
Tails never fails!
Coin toss = Tails 100% Plants = Crypts or Aponogetons (I flip flop between the 2 on which is my fav type) with Anubis a close 2nd/3rd for me lol.
Tails never fails! I like apons, we are just a little limited on them here.
@@TheFishRoom agreed- I have crispus, rigidifolius & undulatus, wish we could get more of the varieties that used to be here- maybe they'll come in as tissue culture one day so species like madagascariensis will be available once again. Was gutted to have missed out on some of the Crinum Calamistratum that came in via tissue culture recently, hoping more of the 'lost species' will start to be brought in & become more readily available here again thanks to tissue culture.
Black Myth! He lives!
I do live you are right
my favourite song is the song I'm listening to at the time. too many great songs to pick one favourite.
I can totally accept that!
Too many favorite songs to pick just one. I can’t do it lol
I understand that, mine 100% changes regularly
Too many favourites to pick just one. I go through fazes of what I listen to on you tube.
I feel that
Purple rain... thats the first one that comes to mind.. plenty of others
Heck of a tune that
Don't have a fav song- just listen to whatever I'm in the mood for. Looking forward to watching the replay. I've followed George Farmer for years, still can't scape top save myself (don't get enough practice at it since I set a tank up & it stays up for years), but I always enjoy his well thought out, stunning displays.
I hope you enjoy it. It was pretty intense, but in a good way
Definitely have to hit the replay for the live stream. I missed a lot of it. I don't think I have a favorite song anymore kinda feels odd.
Hope you enjoyed the replay
No need to apologize from my perspective…you post a vid every day and each day is different. Keep being you! Oh, and Red Hot Chili Peppers rock!
Thank you, I really appreciate it
I had to pop off the livestream as I had some work meetings I was needed in, but I’ll catch the rest of it later. George Farmer is one of the most open and helpful aquascapers out there.
Yeah he was very open, I really wasn't expecting that to be honest
I wish I could have clear water like that. I always get neverending bacterial blooms :(
We can try to unpack this if you want. Throw some aquarium sizes, stocking, filtration etc in the comments and see how we go. If you want to of course.
@TheFishRoom Wow, thanks, I just subscribed. I've had 10 & 20 gallon tanks & I've tried various hang on back filters & under gravel filters. I think there is something in the air b/c I have been able to replicate the problem in a clean cup + distilled water with only the air as a source of microbial life. Also, some saltwater fish keepers told me b/c I clean things around my apartment with rubbing alcohol, the fumes could stimulate bacteria to grow out of control. (They do this on purpose in saltwater, it's called "carbon dosing" & their protein skimmer is suppsed to filter the bacteria out, but I even tried saltwater & my cheap protein skimmer did not solve the problem.) Most people tell me 'Just complete the nitrogen cycle!!!!' But, my tests show 0ppm Ammonia, 0ppm Nitrites, 0ppm Nitrates. Maybe the bacteria from the air is eating organic molecules directly, so I never see Ammonia, Nitrate or Nitrate. It is possible I have too many organic molecule nutrients in the water, but no way to test for them. I guess it is also possible the hydrocarbon fumes in the air could be interfering w/ my tests, but I tried both the API Master Test Kit with liquids + test strips, so I do not think so.
@@TheFishRoom I can't keep submersed aquatic plants b/c the bacterial bloom settles out into a white slime that coats the leaves & slowly eats even the hardiest aquatic plants, like anubias. I currently have a 10 gallon tank w/ 4 Otocniclus b/c they're the only animal I've seen eat this white slime. I have Lucky Bamboo growing out of the gravel (Fluval stratum + lava rock gravel + white gravel that came with beneficial bacteria) & an under gravel filter. I also have some green onions & Tradescantia Minima growing out of 4 filters on the sides of the tank.
@@TheFishRoom overfeeding is a problem I have had too. Although, now I'm just putting in spinach leaves, then some zucchini before the big once a week water change. I try to do a couple of smaller water changes per week too.
Ohhhh heck that sounds like a real head scratcher and a lot going on there. I know nothing about airborne bacteria causing issues in aquaria. But I will pass it over to the floor
The best meal I have ever had was at Red Lobster in Hawaii. Lobster and I cant remember the rest but the sauces were mind blowing, made you go mmmmmmm. But since I cant replicate that Roast chicken, roast potatoes, roast pumpkin, lashings of butter and gravy, best desert Creme Brulee or Tiramisu.
YUMO!
Nice
Thank you
That is impressive. How did you do it 😊
Magic. Unless it was a proper question and then, i use capcut
I have no idea on, how to edit videos
It is a learning curve for sure.
Ribeye Stake with corn on the cob and French fries 😉
I can totally get behind this
My wife's pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy!! Thanks, now I am hungry!
Sounds good to me. What time is dinner?
nothing fancy - cheese and onion toasted sandwich
Nothing wrong with a cheese toastie!
Toss up for me- Lemon chicken(less) stir fry on rice ... or Dahl ... or Sushi. Dessert would be fresh cut fruit & berry salad of strawberry, pineapple, peach, nectarine, cherries & blueberries mixed in passion fruit. If it could only be one thing- ripe peach picked fresh off the tree
Lemon chicken (less) you mean lemon chicken without chicken? Yum Dahl! Not going to lie, my peach tree gives the BEST peaches each year
@@TheFishRoom Chicken less in the fact I use a meat substitute (tastes like chicken, has the texture of chicken but isn't chicken... I guess like 90% of food 😆)- I generally make it in small bite size chucks & tempura it (in the air fryer), then once the veggies are almost cooked (I generally use a mix of frozen green beans, broccoli, colliflower & edamame beans over winter), I add the lemon sauce, mix it through & right at the end I add the chicken substitute & serve over hot rice (sometimes if I want something different I add some udon noodles while cooking & ditch the rice- sometimes I'll ditch the lemon sauce & do sweet & sour with some pineapple etc. stir fry is my kind of versatile cooking ie. you can be absolute shite at cooking & still make a decent, good tasting meal lol). Bit jelly of your tree- my peach tree is nearing its end I think... You may have to enjoy your first peach of the season for the both of us if mine doesn't perk up this year 🤞
My last meal is comfort food from when I was much much younger. My mum and dad would make a lovely homemade chicken pie. I used to love it with dad’s home grown sweet corn and mash potatoes. Both mum and dad have passed on for some years, but I have my memories. I hope my daughter has similar memories of meals with us.
Ohhhh I love this! I have a similar memory from my poppa and I do hope that my kids have a couple of favourites they have as they grow up.
Wow now that meal sounds dam tasty.. um that's a hard one.. to many good ones for me to choose. Could be a good old pork roast with all the trimmings, 🤷
Can't lie, I am not a huge fan of pork. Too many over cooked dry stringy ones as a kid LOL. Roast however, bring it on!
2:54 pleco soup or BBQ discus. Gotta try it once in my life time 😂 so if last meal im going exotic as f**k. 4:11 no 😂
I am down if you are down, just not an aquarium pet!
@@TheFishRoom Wild caught of course. Maybe. Just dont ask where it came from 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ICEDTOM101 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Probably some sort of curry & rice or sushi.
I do enjoy me a currey, I had a Thai green last night and I am making a Jamaican Goat curry tonight.
Why get only one aquarium when you can get an infinite amount of aquariums. Give in to the addiction 😊
You make a valid point right there!
Aquariums are great at keeping me on a straightened arrow. I’ll never not own at least one
I do love this. I know many people like this.
